Very few of us were born with perfect eyelashes. That’s where eyelash curlers can come in handy. Curling your lashes makes your eyes look more open and alert while also making it easier to apply makeup and mascara. If you’ve never used one of these odd-looking implements, here are some basic tips to get you started.

Choosing a Curler

When selecting your eyelash curler, you have several options from which to choose. Plastic frames are usually inexpensive and are lightweight, especially if you travel a lot. Metal frames are not much more of an investment, but they will last longer and give you the added benefit of retaining heat. You can also purchase heated eyelash curlers which are generally battery powered.

Each type of curler consists of the same parts:
- a frame and hinge that allow you to clamp down on your eyelashes to curl them
- a handle
- a pad to cushion your eyelashes while you curl them

Often the pad is replaceable if it becomes damaged. To do this, you would simply pull up the old pad and press the replacement pad into the holder. Most curlers come with replacement pads, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing those separately.

How to Use Your Curler

Once you’ve found the right tool for the job, you’re ready to get started. Always use your eyelash curler on clean, dry lashes. If you try to use it after you’ve already applied your mascara, you run the risk of breaking your eyelashes. If you are using a metal curler, you can gently heat your curler for about three to five seconds with a hair dryer. This can help the curl last longer.

With the curler in the open position, carefully place it at the root of your upper lash line and gently apply pressure until the clamp is closed. Make sure to hold your lashes no longer than five to ten seconds so you do not damage your lashes.

Gently release the pressure on your eyelashes and move the curler to the midway point of your eyelashes. Apply light pressure for two or three seconds and then release. Now just do the same to the lashes on your other eye, and your lashes are ready for mascara.

Follow these simple makeup tips for fantastic looking eyelashes, if you are in the market for a new curler or are considering upgrading your current Eyelash Curler you have a plethora of options when it comes to purchasing a new model. It is important to find the curler that works for you, this being said it can really pay off to spend some time reading reviews. There are many different types of models, generally speaking the more you spend on the curler the higher quality you will get. It is not really a large expense and a high quality Eyelash curler can be one of the main tools in your makeup toolkit.

Wearing fake eyelashes can make your eyes look more dramatic, especially those of you who don’t have thick eyelashes. Using an eyelash curler with your eyelashes helps to give that sultry look and this helps eliminate the need for mascara. But, one thing about wearing them is that you will need the proper glue, if not you could make your eyelashes look bad. When picking out eyelash glue you will have to decide which eyelash glue will work best for you. It comes in many different brands as well as clear or dark colored. Clear glue appears to be white when first put on, but fades to clear as it dries. Dark glue dries to a darker shade giving eyes a more dramatic sexy look. As is stated earlier there are several different brands.

1. Novalash Adhesives
a.	Platinum Bond Lash Adhesives – glue last for up to 4 weeks, instead of the average 2 weeks.

2.	Duo Eyelash Adhesives- is waterproof and available in dark or clear, and cost only $5.99.

3.	Ardell Lashgrip Eyelash Adhesive- quick drying and waterproof and only cost $3.95.

Also Novalash Adhesives makes one for people with sensitive eyes this makes it easier for people who wear contacts to be able to wear fake eyelashes. There are many different options you have for glue just pick the one that will work best for you. I do recommend fake eyelashes to anyone, if you want that dramatic look. My sister wears them and I think they are gorgeous.

Using an Eyelash Curler to curl your eyelashes will make them look bigger and really make your eyes stand out. Remember to never apply your mascara until after you are done curling your eyelashes. This is important for them not too break.

I have never worn them but if I needed to I definitely would, the glue I would use would be the sensitive glue because I wear contacts. I believe I may try them because my mascara always seems to irritate my contacts and then I have to take them out and wear my dorky looking glasses which I hate. I always wonder how to make the eyelashes stay on so I researched them and found out how easy they are to put on and wear. This would definitely save someone time when having to do makeup you would have one less step to do in the early mornings. And besides they look better than ones with mascara on that run.

The newest techie gadget to hit the makeup world is the heated eyelash curler. This one tool is revolutionizing the way we view even a simple eyelash curler.

The basis behind the heated version of an eye lash curler is that it uses heat to curl your eyelashes, in addition to some pressure from the curler. This causes the eyelash to curl much more dramatically than a normal eyelash curler, and to stay for a longer period of time, instead of falling straight again. There are some speculations that if not used correctly, this tool can cause your eyelashes to fall out, and that since the tool is hot, you may hurt yourself, but with careful usage according to the instructions, these problems easily be avoided.

The heated eyelash curler ranges in all shapes, sizes, and colours. There are some models out which essentially look like your traditional metal eyelash curler, except that they come with detailed instructions on heating it thoroughly to curl those lashes. Other types look like a mascara wand/ eyelash comb, and even yet, others look like little plastic eyelash curlers that clamp down, but they apply heat as well. Some of these models will utilize batteries to heat them up, others will merely ask you to use your blowdryer to heat them. The main difference with the heated eyelash curler and a regular eye lash curler is that the heated version seems to last longer, and also will give a more dramatic curl. Also, another difference to take note of, is that when curling your eyelashes, it is extremely important to put your mascara on BEFORE you use the heated eyelash curler. The mascara, when heated helps to hold the eyelash into a more dramatic curl, and sets it into place. With a regular eyelash curler, it is always important to never have mascara on while you use it on your eyelashes. And there you have it; heated eyelash curlers, the comparisons, before and afters, and how-tos. Whichever color and model or method you prefer is your choice, all you need know is that the Heated Eyelash Curler is here to stay.

The eyelash curler is most definitely not a waste of time, it is an absolutely essential tool of any womans makeup kit. To some woman, the idea and sight of any Eyelash Curlers may seem daunting and indeed frightening. And your supposed to clamp that thing on your eyelashes! Well, for those of you who feel fear and trepidation when viewing the sight of a clamp-like device devised solely for the torturing of ones eyelashes, be at ease. It isnt as daunting as it seems, and the benefits greatly outdo any risks.

One of the reasons why I would say it belongs in any womans makeup kit is that this one little contraption does wonders for a woman’s face. It lifts and glamorizes her eyes, before even putting on any mascara. It can erase signs of sleepness nights and tired eyes, by lifting and brightening the whole face. It can take pathetic eyelashes and make one think that they are long and beautiful and luscious. It may seem like a miracle worker because it is. This one little tool does wonders.

But to get the full benefit of any eyelash curlers, you must make sure you follow these few tips. First tip, make sure you always use your eye lash curler while your eyelashes are perfectly clean. Any residue on your eyelashes will get stuck on your eyelash curler, causes your eyelashes to rip out. And you definately dont want your eyelashes to rip out, so take heed. Next tip would be to curl your eyelashes for 10 seconds at the root of the eyelashes, firmly gripping them with the curler, and then release slightly and curl a few millimeters down the eyelashes.Repeat this a few times further and further down your eyelashes. This allows for your eyelashes to have a full natural curl, instead of just looking ‘bent’ at the base. Another tip is to constantly replace the rubber inserts in the eyelash curlers so that your eyelashes will always curl easily, and are less likely to be ripped out.

By following this advice, your eyelashes will always look long, beautiful and sumptuous! And for those of you who were afraid of Eyelash Curlers, now you know that they are not torture devices but makeup bag must-haves!

Have you ever wanted to have that wide eyed glamorous look for your eyes? Well, an Eyelash Curler is a must have for you then, and for every girl out there as a matter of fact. An eyelash curler is an essential tool in the makeup kits of women the world over. Basically, an eyelash curler is a makeup tool that crunches your eyelashes into achieving a glamourous curl and widening your eyes, so you look awake and gorgeous. Not only that, but it makes your eyeslashes look quite abit longer since they no longer slope down naturally, but curl to astounding heights. It can take a girl with sparse eyelashes and make her seem to have long and gorgeous eyelashes. And it can take a women with straight eyelashes and make her eyelashes a main feature on her face- perfectly curled, long and beautiful! A traditional eyelash curler looks like a metal tong which ends in a clamp like vise that you can close tightly over your eyelashes. They usually will have a small strip of rubber-like insert where the metal clamps down, so that your eyelashes can curl without being ripped out. But there are also many other types of eyelash curlers on the market today, including many higher tech models. There are of course the traditional eyelash curlers, which is probably what you would have seen in your mothers makeup bag which are often made of metal. Then there are versions which are made of plastic, with similar shape and function as the traditional eyelash curlers.

There are also some models which are do not look like tongs, but rather instead of putting your fingers through the holes to grip it, your use your whole hang to press the device in a squeezing motion. Then there are some eyelash curlers that are quite abit smaller and made specifically for those tiny corner lashes that are hard to reach. Next we have the heated eyelash curler which uses heat to gently curl the lash, and allow it to keep its curl better than the traditional eye lash curler with less damage to the eye. although these are the basic types, the best eyelash curler type is still a matter of debate. Now that we know WHAT and eyelash curler is, here are the basic steps towards using your own eyelash curler. First you take the Eyelash Curler and close it over your eyelashes gently, at their root, and press dowm firmly- holding for 10 seconds. Then you carefully open it and then move down a few millimetres and curl again. Repeat this another time slightly further down the eylash. This helps to maintain the curl you have achieved and the give your lashes a more natural curve, versus having a sharp bend in your eyelashes ( which is much more unnatural looking ). Once you have completely curled one eye, switch over to your other eye and repeat the above mentioned steps. Important to the process is to remember that you should always only curl perfectly clean eyelashes, so as not to get any mascara residue into the eyelash curler. This can cause your eyelashes to stick to the apparatus and then rip out. This effect is contrary to the look you want to achieve so remember to always curl your lashes clean! Next, you can then apply the mascara to the already curled lashes. And tada- beautiful curled lashes! Now that we know ‘how’ to curl your eyelashes using this illustrious tool, the question comes back to performance. What are some great eyelash curlers on the market today? To be fair, there are a number of great eyelash curlers on the market today, but I will only give the suggestion of a few of the ‘top’ must have curlers desired from housmoms to movie stars and everyone in between. The first and most famous eyelash curler which, without a doubt, will be found in the makeup bags of almost every celebrity makeup artist would be the Shu Eumura eyelash curler. This particular eye lash curler has a cult like following and is revered for its precision and for the terrific curl it provides. It is very easy to use and is great on those of us with stubborn eyelashes that just wont take to being curled by your normal eyelash curler. This baby is the one I personally use, and would recoommend to anyone. This one will curl them, and that curl will hold. Enough said. The Next eyelash curler I would recommend would be the Shiseido eylash curler. This baby is particularily great on asian eyelashes, which are usually straight, and often short and sparse. This curler really gets in there to grip even the smallest lashes and curls them to lengths you never thought they would go. Both of these eyelash curlers mentioned are in a higher pricepoint for eyelash curlers, and you must get refills for the rubber strips for the Shiseido one, and the Shu Uemura curler doesnt sell refills, you must buy a new curler once the rubber strips go.

There are a number of Eyelash Curlers which work well and are in a lower pricepoint category, under $10, so if you cant afford either of these pro eyelash curlers, then go to your nearest drugstore and try out one of the cheaper ones. But if you can afford to, I would definitely suggest splurging on either of the two eyelash curlers above. They really do work miracles for your eyelashes, and if your like me, and have sparse lashes, then that money will be well spent because the lower category type of Eyelash Curler may work on people with already fairly thick and long eyelashes, but for those of us that really need the boost, Shu Eumura and Shiseido are there. C’est la vie
