The Eyelash Curler, Your makeup kit essential
Have you ever wanted to have that wide eyed glamorous look for your eyes? Well, an Eyelash Curler is a must have for you then, and for every girl out there as a matter of fact. An eyelash curler is an essential tool in the makeup kits of women the world over. Basically, an eyelash curler is a makeup tool that crunches your eyelashes into achieving a glamourous curl and widening your eyes, so you look awake and gorgeous. Not only that, but it makes your eyeslashes look quite abit longer since they no longer slope down naturally, but curl to astounding heights. It can take a girl with sparse eyelashes and make her seem to have long and gorgeous eyelashes. And it can take a women with straight eyelashes and make her eyelashes a main feature on her face- perfectly curled, long and beautiful! A traditional eyelash curler looks like a metal tong which ends in a clamp like vise that you can close tightly over your eyelashes. They usually will have a small strip of rubber-like insert where the metal clamps down, so that your eyelashes can curl without being ripped out. But there are also many other types of eyelash curlers on the market today, including many higher tech models. There are of course the traditional eyelash curlers, which is probably what you would have seen in your mothers makeup bag which are often made of metal. Then there are versions which are made of plastic, with similar shape and function as the traditional eyelash curlers.
There are also some models which are do not look like tongs, but rather instead of putting your fingers through the holes to grip it, your use your whole hang to press the device in a squeezing motion. Then there are some eyelash curlers that are quite abit smaller and made specifically for those tiny corner lashes that are hard to reach. Next we have the heated eyelash curler which uses heat to gently curl the lash, and allow it to keep its curl better than the traditional eye lash curler with less damage to the eye. although these are the basic types, the best eyelash curler type is still a matter of debate. Now that we know WHAT and eyelash curler is, here are the basic steps towards using your own eyelash curler. First you take the Eyelash Curler and close it over your eyelashes gently, at their root, and press dowm firmly- holding for 10 seconds. Then you carefully open it and then move down a few millimetres and curl again. Repeat this another time slightly further down the eylash. This helps to maintain the curl you have achieved and the give your lashes a more natural curve, versus having a sharp bend in your eyelashes ( which is much more unnatural looking ). Once you have completely curled one eye, switch over to your other eye and repeat the above mentioned steps. Important to the process is to remember that you should always only curl perfectly clean eyelashes, so as not to get any mascara residue into the eyelash curler. This can cause your eyelashes to stick to the apparatus and then rip out. This effect is contrary to the look you want to achieve so remember to always curl your lashes clean! Next, you can then apply the mascara to the already curled lashes. And tada- beautiful curled lashes! Now that we know ‘how’ to curl your eyelashes using this illustrious tool, the question comes back to performance. What are some great eyelash curlers on the market today? To be fair, there are a number of great eyelash curlers on the market today, but I will only give the suggestion of a few of the ‘top’ must have curlers desired from housmoms to movie stars and everyone in between. The first and most famous eyelash curler which, without a doubt, will be found in the makeup bags of almost every celebrity makeup artist would be the Shu Eumura eyelash curler. This particular eye lash curler has a cult like following and is revered for its precision and for the terrific curl it provides. It is very easy to use and is great on those of us with stubborn eyelashes that just wont take to being curled by your normal eyelash curler. This baby is the one I personally use, and would recoommend to anyone. This one will curl them, and that curl will hold. Enough said. The Next eyelash curler I would recommend would be the Shiseido eylash curler. This baby is particularily great on asian eyelashes, which are usually straight, and often short and sparse. This curler really gets in there to grip even the smallest lashes and curls them to lengths you never thought they would go. Both of these eyelash curlers mentioned are in a higher pricepoint for eyelash curlers, and you must get refills for the rubber strips for the Shiseido one, and the Shu Uemura curler doesnt sell refills, you must buy a new curler once the rubber strips go.
There are a number of Eyelash Curlers which work well and are in a lower pricepoint category, under $10, so if you cant afford either of these pro eyelash curlers, then go to your nearest drugstore and try out one of the cheaper ones. But if you can afford to, I would definitely suggest splurging on either of the two eyelash curlers above. They really do work miracles for your eyelashes, and if your like me, and have sparse lashes, then that money will be well spent because the lower category type of Eyelash Curler may work on people with already fairly thick and long eyelashes, but for those of us that really need the boost, Shu Eumura and Shiseido are there. C’est la vie
